The ASLA Program offers an English-immersion curriculum which uses the Journeys series published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. This language arts curriculum is currently being used by many schools in North America and international schools overseas. It is a very comprehensive program, and is designed to meet the American standards in language arts for grades one through six. Using Journeys allows us to use quality literature as the foundation for the ASLA Program’s curriculum with an approach to literacy development that stresses the four language skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. The educational goals and learning objectives of the Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Journeys curriculum are standardized and allow the children to work through a set sequence of materials at each grade level, preparing the children to advance through the program successfully.

To supplement the Journeys curriculum, our certified and experienced teachers also design extension activities and lessons every month that focus less on rote workbook activities and more on the hands-on exploration of a topic of interest usually based on the literature covered over the month. Extension projects and activities allow students to experience and practice a variety tasks and topics while using their English.
